Ethics Playground — Acceptable Use Policy
Version 1.0 — 27 October 2026. Ethics Olympiad Pty Ltd (ABN 52 606 554 367). Questions: privacy@ethicsplayground.com.au.
For students
Written for Years 5 to 8. Linked from the student sign-in page.
Ethics Playground is for you to practise thinking. Here's the deal.
- Your sign-in is yours. Your class code and PIN are only for you. Don't share your PIN and don't use anyone else's. If you forget yours, your teacher can give you a new one.
- Be yourself. Only play as you. Playing as someone else, or trying to guess their PIN, gets your whole class paused and your teacher told.
- Play fair. The points are for thinking, not for tricks. Scores that don't add up get thrown out.
- No personal stuff. You never need to type your full name, your age, where you live or anything about yourself. If a screen ever asks you to, stop and tell your teacher.
- What we see. Your teacher can see your first name, your emoji and your points. Your classmates can see those too on the leaderboard. Nobody, not your teacher and not us, can see what you answered in the thought experiments.
- Something wrong? Tell your teacher. If something on the screen worries or upsets you, close it and tell a teacher or a trusted adult.
For teachers and schools
- Accounts. Teacher accounts are personal; do not share them. Turn on two-step sign-in (the shield icon on your dashboard). Sign out on shared computers. Report a lost or possibly compromised password to us the same day and we will reset it.
- Student data. Enter first names only (the platform shortens anything longer). Do not enter surnames, dates of birth, medical or behavioural information anywhere, including in class names. Tell parents and carers that the class uses Ethics Playground; the note in our Privacy Policy is written for that. If you opt a class into the "Everyone" board, say so in that note.
- Class codes. Treat the class code as a shared secret: on the board during the lesson, off it afterwards. Rotate it (Settings) if it is shared beyond the class. If the dashboard warns you that someone is guessing PINs, rotate the code and issue new PINs.
- Self-set PINs. Open "Choosing PINs" only while the class sets their PINs together, and close it afterwards. It closes itself after 60 minutes.
- Leaving students. Deactivate or delete students who leave the class, and delete students the school no longer has authority to hold data for.
- Supervision. The games are designed for classroom use under supervision. Weekend and holiday access is a per-class setting; the default is on and you can turn it off.
- Prohibited. Using the platform to collect information about students beyond what it asks for; attempting to access another class's or school's data; automated access, scraping or load testing; security testing without our written agreement. We welcome responsible disclosure of security problems: email privacy@ethicsplayground.com.au and we will reply within 2 business days.
- Child safety. If a student discloses something concerning while using the platform, follow your school's child-safety procedure. The platform has no messaging, so no adult outside the school can contact a student through it. Concerns about the platform's content or about our conduct go to privacy@ethicsplayground.com.au; our Child Safety and Complaints Procedure explains how we respond.
- Breaches of this policy may lead to a class or account being suspended, and will be reported to the school.
